About Sonny  Sinha

 

Sonny Sinha is an established and well-respected leader in the tech, policy, and political arenas. As a leadership staffer in the Obama Administration, on Capitol Hill in the House of Representatives and in the Senate, Sonny has well over a decade of success and experience crafting complex legislation and policy. Using his relationships with stakeholders on both sides of the political aisle, Sonny has navigated intricate political waters to get tough policy victories.

 

After Capitol Hill, Sonny formed Sinha Associates, a public affairs and government relations firm for tech companies and startups. At Sinha Associates, Sonny helped innovative media, online collaborative software companies and others with advisory services and helped in raising their seed and Series A rounds, craft regulatory strategies, create product and market formation plans, and build long term growth and acquisition models.

 

Sonny was most recently an Obama administration political appointee, where he served as Special Assistant and Senior Congressional Adviser for Cybersecurity in the Office of the Under Secretary at the National Protection and Programs Directorate’s Cybersecurity and Communications office within DHS. In this role, Sonny was the lead DHS appointee tasked to collaborate with innovative communities in the private sector, the administration, and congress to inform and establish policies and methods for a safe and secure Internet while promoting the protection of data privacy and the establishment of a resilient online ecosystem where innovation can continue to grow and new markets can thrive. Sonny also was the lead appointee in establishing DHS’ engagement with Silicon Valley.

 

Sonny holds an MBA from the Smith School at University of Maryland, studied engineering as an undergraduate at Purdue University, and served as a Bryce Harlow fellow.
